Less Stress, More Peace

The holidays are a great time to reflect on all the love and blessings in your life. I’m especially grateful for the gift of family, good health, amazing clients and beautiful soulful women that touch my heart and allow me to share all of life’s “messiness” and pleasures. On the flip side, the holidays can also be a time of loneliness, grief and STRESS.

Last week, I listened to clients and friends as they shared stories of pain, struggle and stress. If this is you, know that you’re not alone and please remember to be gentle with yourself and reach out to loved ones or professionals for help when needed. Stress gone unnoticed and undressed can result in emotional eating, sleepless nights, lower libido, sugar cravings, weight gain and damaged relationships.

I really get it. For me, the road to wellness has been a lifelong 25+ year personal and professional journey to find inner peace, healing and the right nourishment that supports my best body. Through it all, I've come to meet some of the most incredible experts and teachers who have shared how to take simple steps to feel better and heal through life’s more challenging moments. One of these experts is Dr. David Allen.

Dr. Allen is a special, rare-to-find doctor. A true healer. He listens and is extremely present and compassionate. He is dedicated to creating a “true partnership” with his patients and reminds us that healing happens on all levels: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Dr. Allen is an expert in hormones, stress and sleep. He will be addressing these topics at Project Radiance/LA on January 13th, 2019.

Did you know that stress hormones like cortisol play a significant role in weight, mood, energy, sleep, sexual desires and brain health?

As we move through life and midlife, it’s imperative to be aware of how hormones affect our health. It’s also a great idea to get your hormones tested—especially estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and thyroid. This is because it’s important to have a baseline number as we age to see how things may be changing. Some choose to go on hormone replacement, while others do things naturally. Each body is unique and there is no right way or wrong way. The key to balancing your hormones and building health is to find out what works for you. At Project Radiance, Dr. Allen will share many great tips on how to get a better nights rest, reduce stress, balance your hormones and tap into that "sparkly" glowing you in 2019 and beyond.

For now, one of my best tips for reducing stress this holiday season and into the new year is to remember to BREATHE. So simple and so powerful. Deep breathing turns on the parasympathetic nervous system and allows our bodies to relax. It also helps support increased cellular health and the powerful mitochondria (the energy factories of the cell.)

So take a few moments, in between shopping or lunch with the girls, for a deep “breath break” and enjoy more peace, serenity and love.

Happy Holidays!

Love,
Marlyn XOXO
